La Familia Leal
Our Story
From a Mission Road lunch counter to LA's michelada institution — one family, one recipe, forty years of love.
The Leal Family
The Leal family has been serving the community from Mission Road since 1985. What started as The Torta Spot — a humble neighborhood lunch counter — grew into something no one expected: a michelada institution. Three generations later, we're still mixing every drink by hand, still using Abuela's recipe, and still treating every customer like family.
The Leal family has called Lincoln Heights home since before La Chuperia had a name. Mission Road was already a gathering place — and the Leals made sure it stayed that way.
"We never changed the recipe. Why would we?"— The Leal Family

THE
CHUPER
MICHELADA
Our signature goblet dripping with chamoy, rimmed with our secret spice blend, and topped with an inverted beer for the perfect slow pour. The one that started it all.

Origin of the
Chuper Michelada
It started with one recipe, one blender, and a corner booth full of regulars who wouldn't let us take it off the menu. The michelada wasn't a plan — it was a calling.
The drink that would define us started as an improvisation. Chamoy-rimmed glass, Abuela's spice blend, an upside-down beer. The regulars went wild. Forty years later, we're still making it the same way.
